Ourhealth Patient portal ui design Exploration
For this project, OurHealth required a revamp of their patient portal, especially focusing on streamlining the messaging system. The existing UI was cluttered, confusing, and outdated. My role involved addressing these pain points and providing recommendations and solutions to enhance user experience.
Problems Identified
Upon reviewing the original portal design, it became immediately apparent that the structure was somewhat confusing. The messaging system was divided into three separate panels for the inbox, messages, and the message window, resulting in a cluttered and disorganized layout. Additionally, there was a need to improve the display of the time/date stamp, message type, and sender information for messages. My task was to devise a solution to address these issues and create a more user-friendly interface.
Solution
After collaborating with my team and gathering feedback from users, we arrived at the final design solution. One key improvement was the clean, spacious area dedicated to the message box, addressing the unused space in the original design. We streamlined the navigation menu, condensing separate categories into a slider within a navigation bar. Additionally, we implemented a drop-down feature for messages to enhance readability and ease of navigation. The preview now provides users with ample information to distinguish between messages and offers options to categorize and sort by sender, message type, and date. The end result was positively received and has been successfully implemented into production.
